Leave policy
The rules your leave year runs on — review your working copy, then apply it as a dated version.
Your leave policy is the set of rules Holiday & Leave runs on — when your leave year starts, how much everyone's entitled to, how it accrues and is paid, carry-over and TOIL, and who approves what. Changing a rule edits a working copy; nothing takes effect until you apply it, and applying adds the next version rather than editing the version already live. Open Leave policy from the sidebar, under Your policy.

The Overview tab
Three panels:
- Your working copy — if you've made changes, this lists each one as old value → new value, with Discard changes and Review and apply. With nothing changed, it shows the version currently live and when it took effect.
- What this policy decides — one row per rule tab, with an Open link into it.
- The floors you sit above — the statutory minimums (like the 5.6-week legal floor) next to your own figure. Anything sitting at or below the legal minimum is highlighted.
The rule tabs
- Leave year — when it starts, how balances reset, and bank holidays.
- Entitlement — weeks per employment type, any cap, and how each type accrues.
- Accrual & pay — the 12.07% accrual rate, rolled-up pay, and what a week's pay is based on.
- Carry-over & TOIL — what can carry into next year, and how time off in lieu works.
- Approvals, leavers & privacy — who approves leave, how leavers are handled, and whether colleagues can see each other's leave.
Each row shows its current value with a short explanation underneath. Rules that only matter when a switch is on — like the days cap, the rolled-up uplift, and every TOIL detail — are hidden while that switch is off.

Editing a rule
Select a rule's value to change it — it's saved to your working copy straight away, and shows a Revert option back to the live value. Nothing here is a task to complete: changing a rule never moves a booking that's already been approved.
Applying your changes
Once you have unapplied changes, Review and apply opens a summary of every rule change, and asks when the new version starts:
- The start of next month (suggested), or
- A date you choose.
Applying adds the next version — it never edits the last one. Nothing already earned or approved changes; each ledger entry stays bound to the version that was live on its earned date.

Policy history
Click Policy history to see every version, in order — its effective date, and its state (Live, Scheduled, Superseded or Cancelled).
Open a version to see:
- What changed — each rule, old value to new.
- Record — effective date, who applied it, and when.
A version that hasn't started yet (Scheduled) can still be changed to a different date, or cancelled — with a reason, stamped to the version's own record. A Live or Superseded version never changes.
