Sickness
Record sickness, track fit notes, and see who's approaching a sickness trigger.
Sickness is recorded against an employee's contract, not the shift planner. Short absences are recorded on the spot; longer ones become a statutory case that tracks evidence, eligibility and pay through to the pay run. Sickness is part of Holiday & Leave and applies to employees only.
Recording short sickness
Record sickness the same way as any other leave — from Leave requests' New request panel or the Leave calendar. Choose the employee, a sickness category, and the dates. While the absence falls inside your policy's self-certification window (7 days by default), it's recorded straight away with no case needed:
- Choose the rate — Company rate or SSP rate.
- It's payable from the first qualifying day, and the panel shows how many of the self-certification days are used.

When it becomes a statutory case
Once an absence runs past the self-certification window, or for a sickness category that's always case-managed, it's handled as a statutory case instead — start one from Statutory cases in the sidebar. Sickness over 7 days raises a fit-note requirement automatically once the case is open.
An employee's sickness record
Open the employee's record from People and go to the Sickness tab to see every spell recorded against them:
- Dates, length, and the pay choice for that spell.
- Linked to an earlier spell, when two spells within 8 weeks are joined for statutory sick pay purposes.
- A fit note due marker once one is owed, and Mark fit note received to record it once it arrives.

The sickness tracker
The Overview page's Sickness tracker card gives you a company-wide view over a rolling 12 months:
- At trigger and Approaching counts, and the company's absence rate.
- The five employees closest to a trigger, each with their spells, days lost and Bradford factor score, and a state tag.
- Review next to anyone flagged opens Leave requests filtered to them.
